Everything You Need To Know About Red Rocks
Posted: 2012-07-17 12:59:00Being prepared is key to enjoying Global Dance Festival to the fullest extent. Here's some useful tips and information to help you plan a fun and safe weekend at Global Dance Festival!
Clothing
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing to dance the night away! Wearing comfortable shoes is important, as you will be doing a lot of walking at Red Rocks across varied terrain. Sneakers and tennis shoes are your best bet if you want to be comfortable the entire night. We encourage you to dress up in festive outfits all weekend long!
Seating
The entire amphitheater is general admission seating, except for the first 10 rows which are reserved for VIP. You may notice that there is a seat number listed on your ticket- this is just for tracking purposes only. While there are no bad seats at Red Rocks, we recommend getting there early if you want to be up close. Purchasing VIP tickets also ensures you have front row seats the entire festival.
Directions
We have provided you with a list of directions to Red Rocks from Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins, & Colorado Springs.
Traffic
It is common to experience traffic on the way to Red Rocks on concert days. Plan ahead and allow some extra time to get there. If you are coming from Denver, you can usually avoid traffic by exiting C-470 at Highway 285, taking it west to Highway 8, and then driving north to the venue.
Parking
Several parking lots surround the amphitheater free of charge. Get there early if you want a close spot. Please be green & carpool!
Tailgating
Tailgating is permitted in the parking lot. However, open alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Due to the risk of fire, open flame fires and charcoal grills are not allowed. Small gas-controlled grills are allowed. Vending items in the parking lot is not permitted.
Camping
Camping is not allowed at Red Rocks. For a list of campgrounds and hotels near the venue, click here.
Dropping Off & Picking Up
If you are getting dropped off and picked up at the show, we recommend doing so at the Trading Post, which can be accessed from any entrance to the park. Have whoever is picking you up arrive 20-30 minutes before the show ends so they don't get caught in exiting traffic.
Altitude
Keep in mind that Red Rocks is at a higher altitude than Denver. Pace yourself when walking up the stairs and drink plenty of water. This is especially important if you are coming from a state at a lower altitude. Don't forget that altitude also affects your alcohol tolerance.
Allowed & Prohibited Items

Lost & Found
The Red Rocks lost & found is located in the Operations Office backstage. Contact an event services supervisor if you lose something during the show. After the show, items are taken to the Denver Coliseum office by the next business day. Call 720-856-2475.
ATMS
The ATM is located at the Visitors Center at the top of the amphitheater.
Trash
Please help represent the dance community well and pick up after yourselves. Throw away trash in trash cans instead of leaving it on the ground and take advantage of the recycling bins when you can!
Will Call
Will Call is located on the Red Rocks Park Road (entrance #2). The Red Rocks Park Road entrance is along Highway 93 and is closest to the town of Morrison. Will Call opens at 3pm.
